Week 11
Kilkenny and feathery friends |
I started the week by taking a day-trip to Kilkenny. I was keen on visiting Kilkenny design shop and the castle. Kilkenny was worth the trip and I especially enjoyed the castle and the Medieval Mile museum. Besides that there wasn't much to see but it made for good pictures. Alongside this being the spring break I also spend most of it studying and working on personal things for my university in Finland.
I visited Belfast with some classmates. I heard Belfast wasn't anything interesting which I was skeptical about. We took a train to Belfast and a bus back and gladly we didn't face any difficulties since one of us had forgotten their passport.
I enjoyed Belfast probably more than Dublin. In a weird way it felt like Canada with all the mountains in the horizon and Tim Hortons. This week as an Erasmus student I learned about Northern Ireland's troubles in the 1970s. History is still very much alive in Belfast.
