Food/Cuisine
I find that Finnish and Irish cuisine aren’t too different form one another. Mostly consisting of meat, potatoes and root vegetables I’ve been able to find a counterpart for almost every Irish dish I have encountered. I thought I had left blood behind me but alas I found black pudding on my breakfast plate. Guinness stew is just like karjalanpaisti at home and potatoes are well potatoes no matter where you are. Full Irish breakfast has quickly become my guilty pleasure and Barrey’s tea has found it’s place in my cupboard.

The number of sandwiches surprised me. Especially the popularity of the chicken fillet roll which seems to be an option from every convenience store to every Spar. I was also surprised by the meal deals at grocery stores since we don’t have anything like that in Finland. They are quite handy and a concept I’d like to bring back with me. I particularly like the chips – multipacks are already hard to come by in Finland. I like having a crunchy snack with me and the small bag is very convenient.
