Week 2
Second week included a lot of lectures on campus and after-hours I worked on my thesis. The Friday activity for the week was a trip to Croke Park and sport activities. I like sports and was excited to try my hand - or leg at whatever Ireland had to offer.
This week also included the start of VR classes. Back in Finland one of my classmates is doing their thesis about VR in healthcare so it was interesting to try it personally. I foundangiography to be the best modality for it. Moving staff around was conveninent you could control the C-arm how you wanted. I feel like virtual reality plays a major role in future healthcare studies,

Heritage and culture

I had never really thought about Ireland’s history before. Very green, lots of sheep and Saint Patrick’s Day. Everyone speaks English. And that’s about it. These months have taught me a lot. I have learned about the painful past between Ireland and the UK, how deeply integrated sports are in the culture and how Irish people are proud of their own heritage. I genuinely had underrated the influence sports have on Irish people. It was also very interesting to lear about Gaelic sports and try to play them. I enjoyed Hurling the most. How many decide to leave but most stay. I’ve come to understand that there are Irish people all around the world. Irish people are awfully nice too.
I talked to a nursing student from Northern Ireland. They were thinking about whether to register as a nurse in Ireland or the UK. Should they get registered with British system for easier abroad work or CORU because they felt more Irish?
